In addition to the general objectives of NBU, the Languages and Translation Department seeks to achieve its own objectives as follows: 

1-       Familiarizing the students with the English language and literature in its different stages to date. 

2-       Studying the morphology and basics of English language through studying linguistics in general and confirming the relationship between language and practice.  

3-       Training the students on how to acquire the necessary linguistic skills with the purpose of practicing language correctly and opening for them the field of gaining knowledge and scientific research. 

4-       Training male and female students on the different computer applications (in language, linguistics and European literatures), which is considered to be one of the pillars upon which the modern world is built. 

5-       Studying the principles and basics of French language as a foreign European language. 

6-       Preparing distinguished teachers both morally and professionally who are able to use English in governmental and private sectors. 

7-       Preparing the graduates to pursue their post graduate studies and scientific research in the different branches of English language. 

8-       Getting the students to know the basic principles, and the current theories and tendencies in English language. 

9-       Enabling the students to understand the culture of English language and to utilize this knowledge to reinforce the values of inter-cultural and civilized communication. 

10-   Developing the student's creative and critical thinking.
